IWU, TU, SHU earn Player of the Week honors after opening Mideast League wins

Each of the three Mideast League teams that start league play 1-0 earn recognition in the latest MSFA Player of the Week awards.

Offensive Player of the Week
Arjun Lothe, Indiana Wesleyan
Jr., QB, Greenwood, Ind. (Hanover [Ind.])

  • Set an IWU record and tied the Mideast League record with seven passing TDs in #14 Indiana Wesleyan's 71-21 win over Madonna
  • Tallied 355 passing yards while playing in just the first half
  • Earns his first career MSFA Player of the Week honor

Defensive Player of the Week
Reid Messer, Taylor
Jr., DB, Greensburg, Ind. (North Decatur)

  • Earns his first career MSFA Player of the Week honor
  • Recorded one interception, with a 50-yard return on the play
  • Earns his first MSFA Player of the Week award this season, and the second of his career

Special Teams Player of the Week
Numehnne Gwilly, Siena Heights
Fr., WR, Shelby Township, Mich. (Utica)

  • Returned a punt 68 yards for a TD in the Saints' 37-28 win over Lawrence Tech
  • Caught three passes for 52 yards in the win
  • Earns his first career MSFA Player of the Week award
