TU sweeps Mideast Player of the Week awards
With an shootout victory in overtime Saturday night, Taylor sweeps the second edition of the Mideast League Player of the Week awards.
Offensive Player of the Week
Jameson Chesser, Taylor
Jr., RB, Adrian, Mich. (Lenawee Christian HS)
- Rushed for 209 yards and two TDs as Taylor won in overtime at Olivet Nazarene, 58-51
- Caught a 23-yard pass on the game-tying drive to force overtime
- Earns his first career MSFA Offensive Player of the Week award
Defensive Player of the Week
Reid Messer, Taylor
So., DB, Greensburg, Ind. (North Decatur HS)
- Had two interceptions in Taylor's 58-51 road win at Olivet Nazarene
- Returned one pick for a 45-yard TD, and another to the 4-yard line, leading to another TD
- Earns his first career MSFA Defensive Player of the Week award
Special Teams Player of the Week
Lucas Shilts, Taylor
Jr., K/P, Marion, Ind. (Eastbrook HS)
- Converted a 31-yard field goal to send the game to overtime as Taylor won at ONU
- Finished the night 7-for-8 on extra points and scored ten points overall
- Earns his first career MSFA Player of the Week award this season, and the third of his career
