IWU, TU claim opening Mideast League awards

After picking up season-opening wins, No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan and Taylor earn the first Mideast League Player of the Week awards for the season.

Offensive Player of the Week
Kyle Antoine, Indiana Wesleyan
So., QB, Indianapolis, Ind. (Heritage Christian HS)

• Threw for a program-record five TDs in the Wildcats' 59-0 win over Madonna
• Completed 21 of 27 passes for 269 yards
• Earns his first career MSFA Offensive Player of the Week award

Defensive Player of the Week
Aven Jones, Taylor
Sr., LB, New Palestine, Ind. (New Palestine HS)

• Led the team with ten tackles at Taylor earned a road win at Siena Heights
• Had a game-ending tackle for loss to end the Saints' comeback drive in the fourth quarter
• Earns his second career MSFA Defensive Player of the Week award

Special Teams Player of the Week
Josh Clifton, Indiana Wesleyan
So., K/P, Bradley, Ill. (Bradley-Bourbonnais HS)

• Went a perfect 9-for-9 on kicks as the Wildcats won at Madonna
• Converted a 37-yard field goal while going 8-for-8 on extra points
• Earns his second career MSFA Player of the Week award
