IWU, TU claim first Mideast Player of the Week honors

A pair of Wildcats along with Taylor placekicker Lucas Shilts take home the debut MSFA Mideast League Player of the Week awards for the 2023 season.

Offensive Player of the Week
Dederrian Williams, Indiana Wesleyan
Sr., RB, Lake Placid, Fla. (Mississippi Valley St.)

• Rushed for 126 yards and two TDs in #5 Indiana Wesleyan's 56-7 win at Lawrence Tech
• Also caught two TD passes, collecting 55 receiving yards on four catches
• Earns his second career MSFA Offensive Player of the Week award

Defensive Player of the Week
Neil Campbell, Indiana Wesleyan
Sr., DB, Chicago, Ill. (Hope Academy)

• Made six tackles in the win over the Blue Devils
• Recovered a fumble in the 2nd quarter to give IWU their first lead of the day, with a 10-yard fumble return TD 
• Earns his second career MSFA Defensive Player of the Week award, and first since 2021

Special Teams Player of the Week
Lucas Shilts, Taylor
So., K, Marion, Ind. (Eastbrook HS)

• Scored 13points, going 3-for-4 on field goals and 4-for-4 on extra points in the Trojans' 37-34 win over St. Ambrose
• Connected on a long field goal of 40 yards to open the scoring in the first quarter
• Earns his first career MSFA Special Teams Player of the Week award
