The Mid-States Football Association, an NAIA affiliated organization, begins its 17th MSFA gridiron season with 16 schools in four midwestern states.
Two teams, Grand View University of Des Moines, IA and Waldorf College of Forest City, IA, joined the association for the 2009-2010 leaving the Midwest League with eight teams including Iowa Wesleyan College of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; St. Ambrose University of Davenport; and William Penn University of Oskaloosa, Iowa along with McKendree University of Lebanon, IL; Quincy University, IL and the University of St. Francis of Joliet, IL
With the addition of Grand View and Waldorf, three Illinois schools - Olivet Nazarene University of Bourbonnais, Saint Xavier University of Chicago and Trinity International University of Deerfield - moved to the Mideast League to balance out the MSFA. The eight-team Mideast League also includes Marian University of Indianapolis, IN; the University of Saint Francis of Fort Wayne, IN; and Taylor University of Upland, IN; along with Malone University and Walsh University of Canton, Ohio.
Each MSFA team plays the other teams within its league plus crossover games against the other league. The champions of the two leagues receive automatic berths into the NAIA Championship playoffs.
The Chairman of the MSFA during the 2009-2010 school year will be Marty Bell, Athletics Director at Quincy University.
