The 19th ranked Grand View Viking football team took the field Saturday hosting the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees at William Stadium. The Vikings entered the game with an overall 7-2 record and 5-0 in conference play. The first quarter was evenly played by both teams and saw the Vikings behind 3-0. The Vikings took the field in the second quarter with a different attitude and scored two touchdowns making the score 14-10 in favor of the Vikings. In the second half the Vikings scored another touchdown to St. Ambrose's 10 points. The Vikings went on to win 21-20.

The first score of the day came from the leg of St. Ambrose's kicker Patrick Schmadeke making it 3-0. The Vikings first score came in the middle of the second quarter by a 3 yard run by Daryl Ford. The quarterback for St. Ambrose Michael Hayward got a taste of the end zone with his own 14 yard rush. But at the end of the quarter Ford returned to the end zone with a 1 yard punch in to make it 14-10 Vikings going in to halftime.

The first score in the second half came from a 15 yard pass from Michael Hayward to Beau Foiles for St. Ambrose University. But closing in on the 3rd quarter Daryl Ford again returned to the end zone to make it a three touchdown day for the Vikings running back. Making the score 21-20 Vikings. The Vikings defense put forth another great effort Saturday afternoon, contributing two interceptions and six sacks.

The two quarterbacks for the Vikings combined for a total of 228 passing yards. Taylor Bennett went 13-for-24 passing for 184 yards and Greg Charleswent 3-for-7 passing for 44 yards. The leading rushing was Daryl Ford, who rushed for a total of 160 yards and 3 touchdowns. As for the receivers Brett Opdahl led the team with 5 catches for 120 yards.

The Vikings take the field again at home this Saturday November 14th against undefeated MSFA conference opponent No. 11 McKendree University at 1 p.m.
